Once More, With Feeling!
I’m beginning to see something of a pattern to my activities here on the blog. Write five or six posts, leave for a year or two, then come back with a redesigned site, as a better man; wiser, older, more self-aware. Well, older certainly.
Am I destined to repeat this tragic cycle endlessly? Am I doomed before I even begin? Will I again succumb to the same dark temptations of unproductivity and instant gratification?
Or shall I avoid the pitfalls this time?
Who can tell, really? But I shan’t give up. A procrastinator I may be – lazy to a fault – but give up on this I shall not. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. Well, I’m trying. Again. Again-again.
The site is not finished. I have not spent overly long trying (vainly, foolishly) to perfect it. The code isn’t optimized. I can think of a number of improvements off the top of my head. I haven’t tested the site on anything other than Chrome 13 and Firefox 4 on Windows 7. I haven’t gone over the old posts to see they comply peacefully with this newly-made WordPress theme of mine. There’s no convenient way to get to the different archive views. I can imagine the site looks like expletive on smaller screen devices. So there are things to do. But there’s no rush. If not everything works, well… Eventually, it will.
I don’t have any new ideas or guidelines or mantras or rules or plans for this. Even this post – this re-re-introduction, as it were – was written in one sitting. No revisions, no second-guessing, other than a quick read-through for grammar and spelling. This time, no prestige. No pressure.
I haven’t much to say about the design. I wanted simple, and I made simple. I’ve been trying out some HTML5 and CSS3. Rounded corners, animation, new tags, web fonts. It’s fun to experiment, and that’s what I’ll do here. It won’t always be perfect, but that’s not what I’m aiming for.
And that’s all I’ll say by ways of a new introduction. Maybe I’ll post something soon. Hopefully, I’ll post something soon. As always, enjoy it or not, as it pleases you. Whichever the case, I implore you, please comment.
